Rose, White or Yellow ?

Each of our sections of white gold necklaces, rose gold necklaces and yellow gold necklaces do have a written introduction above the products discussing some of the different characteristics of those types of gold chains, but here is a brief overview if you are unsure what colour of gold necklace you want to buy.

Yellow gold is probably the most 'conventional' and widely worn type of gold. With a lustrous deep yellow golour and a wonderful glow yellow gold necklaces look fabulous on tanned, olive, brown and black skin. That is not to say that yellow gold cannot be worn and look great on girls with a paler complexion. In particular many blondes actually prefer wearing yellow gold over silver, although we would recommend a finer choice of chain if you want to wear yellow gold with paler skin. Yellow gold is worn by all ages and particularly suits younger wearers.

Rose gold contains a beautiful red-coloured tint to it. The gold has been alloyed with Copper to obtain a redness. The colour of a shiny brand new one-penny piece rose gold will not lose its shine, but has a fantastic vivacious quality to it. Rose gold looks superb on brunettes, and in particular girls going for a more natural look (for example Scarlett Johansson is a fan of rose gold). It suits a more mature look and goes particularly well with formal or work attire.

White gold is a very vibrant alternative to silver. Unlike silver necklaces which need work to keep their lustre through polishing etc, white gold should maintain its vibrancy and life with minimum effort. White gold is the result of an alloy of gold and a white metal, sometimes palladium or another platinum group metal. Don't worry, when we talk about alloys of gold and other metals in rose gold and white gold necklaces it does not mean it is any less pure. All the gold necklaces we sell are solid 9ct gold so they contain the exact same purity of gold.
